FAQ

This is an ambitious project for the new and growing parish of St Luke’s and the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, with the overall cost of constructing the Church and Community Facility estimated at $10.8 million.

Fundraising is well underway and great progress has been made, with 75% of this (i.e. $8.05 million) of this raised to date. However, there is still work to do, with a balance of $2.75 million still to be raised.

The campaign is planned to extend to April 2021 and pledges will be made over a period of up to 3 years, from 2020 to 2022.

Payments over time are common for large purchases. A pledge to the campaign is the same and can be spread over 3 years. This makes it possible for you to make a more significant contribution than a one-time gift to the campaign without undue hardship.

We encourage donors to spread their campaign gift over a 3-year period. Capital campaigns have a special, targeted purpose for raising the money, and the funds are restricted. By spreading your pledge out over time, you have the flexibility to plan for your financial commitment. The first pledge payment needs to occur before 31 March 2021.

You may be able to claim a tax credit of 33.33% for your charitable giving to the campaign. All donations over $5 are tax deductible. The Catholic Diocese of Auckland is a charitable trust and our registration number is CC29112. Our official name is the Roman Catholic Diocese of Auckland Ecclesiastical Goods Trust. Please remember to keep your official donation receipts to send in with your IR526 Tax Credit Claim Form.

Can’t find your receipt? Please contact us: campaign@flatbushcatholicgiving.org

All pledges will be kept as confidential as possible. Only the people responsible for maintaining the records will have access to your pledge.

Pledges are made in good faith and accepted as such. A pledge is not legally binding; it is a gift, and one you have made through your own discernment process with God. If hardship or illness prevents you from fulfilling your pledge, simply let the church know.

We aim to raise the remaining funds from within the Flat Bush community, the wider Auckland Diocese, and charitable trusts and foundations. Additionally, some local businesses are being contacted and we are looking for volunteers to help make these contacts. Absolutely! Campaigns are successful because members are willing to pitch in to accomplish the objectives.
