Make a Gift in Your Will

Help future generations to thrive in discovering their faith

One of the greatest contributions you can make to the mission of the Church is to leave your own legacy of faith for future generations.

After you have looked after your loved ones, consider making a gift to the Church in your Will (bequest). By leaving a bequest to the Church you leave a legacy that will benefit the Church into the future, a gift that will be greatly appreciated.

We encourage you to let us know your intentions in advance, so that we can thank you in person and discuss with you how we might invest your future generosity in a way that fits with your values and honours your wishes.

If you are considering making a gift in your Will and would like more information, please email James van Schie, Diocesan General Manager, in confidence at james@cda.org.nz or call 09 360 3063.

Because of the long-term nature of gifts in wills, please note gift intentions made in wills will not be counted towards the St Luke’s, Flat Bush campaign total.

Below is suggested wording your solicitor could use. This can be incorporated into your new Will or simply added as a codicil to an existing one.

Suggested legal wording:

I give and bequeath to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Auckland Ecclesiastical Goods Trust (Charity Registration No. CC29112) also known as the Catholic Diocese of Auckland the sum of _____ dollars ($_____) (or) the residue of my estate (or) property or assets as follows _____________, free of all charges and to be used at the discretion of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. I express my wish that in the event my gift can no longer be applied to the purpose of the St Luke’s Flat Bush church build it will be applied at the discretion of the Bishop to the nearest similar purpose supporting Church growth in Auckland. I declare that the receipt of that Trust shall be sufficient discharge to my executors for this gift.
